On July 18, 2019, the anime industry experienced one of its darkest episodes. But fans and the community of colleagues didn't leave Kyoto Animation alone. The distribution company Sentai Filmworks started a GoFundMe campaign to support KyoAni. And the fans' response was immediate.
Others who joined this cause are Yahoo! Japan and JAniCA (Japanese Animation Creators Association). Together they created “Kyoto Animation Support Fund” through Yahoo! Net Fund. The money raised will be used for the families of the victims and the studio's reconstruction efforts.
Although it has been a hard blow for this great anime house, the staff of Studio 1 has already returned to work.
