It's a cancellation that hurts us especially because, being what it is, a cancellation and not an ending, There were some loose ends that awaited some future development.. Unlike other adaptations, Anne With an E sought to tell the story of this girl in Green Gables through the lens of our present-day sensibilities. Therefore Arcs were included that are not present in the original material or in any other adaptation and whose resolution we have no way of knowing.
In this article we want to recall some of the issues that were left unresolved and that a hypothetical fourth season would have addressed. By the way, if you haven't seen the series, this article will contain spoilers.
Anne and Gilbert's relationship
One of the things that kept us glued to the screen watching Anne With An E was the slow but steady development of the relationship between the protagonist and Gilbert. The chemistry between the two characters was undeniable, and every little hint about the feelings they had for each other was a tasty bonus for those of us who followed the series. It would have been fascinating to discover what problems they would have faced now that they were a mail-order couple. At least we have the books to give us an idea of what it would have been like. Unlike the next entry.
What would have become of Sebastian and his daughter?
Mary's death made us cry buckets. Not only because the character was intelligent and charismatic, but also because she left behind a husband and two children. While this death spurred the development of the eldest son's personality, the grieving process has not yet been fully completed for Sebastián and their baby. No one denies that Gilbert's best friend will be a very good father, but the path of fatherhood as a single man is something that would undoubtedly have been a very interesting storyline. Besides, there was a very interesting chemistry with Muriel Stacy. Clearly, this was shaping up to be something more.

The natives
In the third (and now final) season of the series, characters from the Mi'kmaq tribe were introduced. One of them, Ka'Kwet, became quite important by becoming friends with the protagonist. Anne With an E used these personalities to address the problem of child indoctrination through religious boarding schools in 1890s Canada. Ka'Kweet went to one of those well-intentioned institutions. And although she managed to escape after witnessing the terrible treatment she received there, she was recaptured. Not even Anne and Mathew's intervention could save her. Sadly, it's very unlikely we'll ever find out what became of her.
Jerry and Diana
Not all romantic interactions were exclusively between Gilbert and Anne. One of the The relationships that were explored in greater depth in the later chapters were those developed by Diana and Jerry. This relationship, which united two people from very different social strata, had its ups and downs, but sadly ended on a low note and even threatened to end the friendship between Diana and Anne. Although the two friends were able to resolve their differences in the end, the series didn't last long enough to reveal whether Jerry would return to Diana's life. Especially considering that she went to university with Anne.
